What can you do to help?
First off, get your water tested. If you know where your water comes from, that is a great start. City water and well water come from different places and knowing which one you have will help with this process.
Well water is a bit more difficult because it is “yours”. You are in charge of monitoring the water that you are drinking. If you move into a new home with a well, this should be part of your inspection process. You can also test again on an annual basis to make sure you are still in the clear.
If you have city water, the town in which you live should be checking the water. There are reports each year that should show the different levels and where your water is at regarding contaminates.
