What Kind of Toxins?
There are certain factors that can lead to specific chemicals or toxins in the water. It can depend on what part of the country you live in and what kind of water you have at your home.
When children are young, (under a year old) they are more susceptible to getting sick from nitrates. Nitrates come from sewage and different fertilizers. At times, these nitrates can seep into your water supply. In these younger infants, there is the potential to contract a condition called methemoglobinemia. It can affect breathing or continue to even more serious symptoms.
There are also several carcinogens that can seep into the water. Carcinogens can affect both adults and children. Some are even linked to cancer.
Lead is another contaminate that can live in drinking water. This has a tendency to come from pipes or other metal plumbing. There are several symptoms that range from mild to serious!

If you have city water, the town in which you live should be checking the water. There are reports each year that should show the different levels and where your water is at regarding contaminates.
